This service sequries hybridoma cells produced by Rockland or provided by the client. Multiple mouse strains are available upon request. Ascites projects have 3 phases, phase 1 is the scale up of tissue culture to obtain sufficient the required cells, and phase 2 includes the priming of the mice and the injection of the prepared cells, phase 3 is recovery of the ascites fluid. Purification services are available upon request.
Ascites is typically produced in the Balb/c mouse strain unless another strain is otherwise specificed. Optimized methods, include the quantity and volume of injected hybridoma cells, are used to establish tumors. Subsequently accumulation of ascitic fluid occurs and this fluid is harvested to recover the produced antibody.
The ascites method generates high yields of antibody, ascites is frequently processed, purified or characterized depending on your particular requirements. Commonly protein A or protein G purifcation is requested to obtian a purifed final antibody product. Assay development and reporter molecule conjugation services are also available.
